The deal touched off a ‘frenzy’ on launch day, but the brand promises to be better prepared in the future.

Dinner plans for every Tuesday for the rest of July? Pizza Hut basically just made them for you.
The chain has introduced “$2-Buck Tuesday,” offering one-topping Personal Pan Pizzas for $2 every Tuesday for the remainder of the month. Yeah, forget Taco Tuesday. For the next couple of weeks, it’s Pizza Tuesday for sure.
But be warned: The deal, which is limited to six Personal Pan Pizzas per customer and is an “only while supplies last”-at-participating-locations situation, has set off a pizza panic — and more than a little frustration — in the time it has already been offered.
“The promotion sent pizza lovers into a total frenzy with more than 3,100 Pizza Hut restaurants sold out on launch day,” the brand said in a statement posted a few days ago on QSR.com.
On social media, some people celebrated their bargain meals.
“I got my pizza!!!! Thanks for dinner and lunch,” wrote one satisfied customer on Instagram.
“Luv my personal pan pizza,” another gushed.
But far more people griped about missing out after finding their nearby Pizza Hut locations either sold out or not offering the deal.
“How is the $2 pizza gonna sell out 2 hours after opening?? My location is ‘sold out,’” one complained.
“I just ordered one and got a SLICE instead of a personal pan,” another shared. (A similar experience was reported by a disappointed Redditor, who posted an image of four boxed slices on r/mildlyinfuriating.)
“Very frustrating … smh,” a third Instagrammer said.
Faced with the blowback, Pizza Hut seems upbeat.
“You guys love Personal Pan Pizza so much you broke the internet yesterday,” it wrote on Wednesday. “Good news $2 Tuesday will be back next week.”
One poster on a subreddit for Pizza Hut Employees shared an image that apparently showed a note from the brand to workers thanking them for making the promotion a “massive success” after the first Tuesday the deal was offered that “wouldn’t have been possible without [their] incredible effort.”
“To give you a sense of what we pulled off, we usually sell around 18,500 personal pan pizzas in an entire week,” according to the note in the image, which was shared on Wednesday, July 9. “Yesterday alone we sold 105,000. That’s an unbelievable number, and it speaks volumes about the energy, hustle, and guest-first mindset you brought to the table.”
The note goes on: “Yes, it was more than we expected. And yes, we’ll be better prepared next Tuesday — and even better the Tuesday after that.”
Bargain-seeking pizza fans will soon find out.
