Check your pantries, Ritz cracker fans. Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches in four different carton sizes have been recalled by the snack product’s parent company, Mondelēz Global LLC, due to mislabeling concerns that could endanger the health or lives of those who are allergic or severely sensitive to peanuts.

The recall affects 8-pack, 20-pack and 40-pack cartons of Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches and 20-pack Ritz Filled Cracker Sandwich Variety Pack cartons sold at retail stores nationwide.

The affected cartons are properly labeled on the outside and correctly alert consumers that the product within “contains peanuts.” However, they “include individually wrapped packs that may be incorrectly labeled as Cheese variety even though the product may be a Peanut Butter variety,” according to a company announcement of the voluntary recall shared by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions by consuming this product.”

The recall pertains only to the following products:

  • “11.4 oz. RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches - 8 Count (8 x 1.38-oz. 6-pack carton),” with the UPC code “0 44000 88210 5” and Best When Used By Dates of “1 NOV 25 - 9 NOV 25 ‘AE; Plant Code Only” printed atop the packaging.
  • “27.6 oz. RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches - 20 Count (20 x 1.38-oz. 6-pack carton),” with the UPC code “0 44000 07584 2” and Best When Used By Dates of “1 NOV 25 - 9 NOV 25 and 2 JAN 26 - 22 JAN 26 ‘AE’ Plant Code Only” printed on top.
  • “55.2 oz. RITZ Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches – 40 Count (40 x 1.38-oz. 6-pack carton),” with the UPC code “0 44000 07819 5” and Best When Used By Dates of “1 NOV 25 - 9 NOV 25 and 2 JAN 26 - 22 JAN 26 ‘AM’ Plant Code Only” noted on top.
  • And “27.3 oz. RITZ Filled Cracker Sandwich 20-Count Variety Pack (20 packs of 10 Cheese 1.38-oz. packs and 10 Peanut Butter 1.38-oz. packs)” with the UPC code “0 44000 08095 2” and Best When Used By Dates of “2 NOV 25 – 9 NOV 25 ‘RJ’ Plant Code Only” printed on top of the package.
  • The internal individually wrapped packages in the cartons subject to recall are mislabeled as “RITZ Cheese Cracker Sandwiches (1.38oz. pack)” with the UPC code “0 44000 00211 4” and Best When Used By Dates of 1 NOV 25 – 9 NOV 25 and 2 JAN 26 – 22 JAN 26 ‘AE’ Plant Code Only” listed on the sides of the packages.

No other Ritz or Mondelēz products are affected by the recall and no injuries or illnesses related to these products have been reported thus far. Mondelēz Global LLC says it is issuing the recall solely “as a precaution” and that it is taking “corrective actions” to prevent a reoccurrence of the issue.

“The recall was initiated after Mondelēz Global LLC discovered that film packaging rolls used to package individually wrapped products containing peanut butter may contain defects due to a supplier error,” the company said.

The company is urging anyone with a peanut allergy not to eat and to discard the recalled products.

Those seeking more information are directed to contact the company 24/7 at 1-844-366-1171.
